After the Saqlabis Khairan and Zuhair the rule of Almeria passes in 429H to ‘Abd al-‘Aziz of Valencia, but soon the defacto ruler becomes his designed governor Ibn Sumadih. The last strikes some fractional coinage in the name of his overlord ( see coins of Valencia) but very soon after, in 433H, as a sign of independece, starts striking anonymous coins without any mention of any overlord.

Ahmad / Yumn al-Dawla – يمن الدولة محمد بن عبد ألله
Prieto attributes these coins, based on the title Yum al Dawla on IIA, to Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah who reigned from 421-434/1030-1042. If right, then the Ahmad on IA is his son who only got to govern for a few months in 434/1042. Almoravids take Alpuente in 500/1011.

This dinar of Tamīm from the mint of Malaga which aside from al-Mu’izz li-Dīn Allah has also the titles al-Mu’ad and al-Mustanṣir which are the same as those of the Fāṭimid al-Mustanṣir 427H-487 (1036-1094 AD). Does this imply a possible nominal recognition by the last Zīrīd ruler of Malaga of the reigning Fāṭimid as his overlord? This is not registered in any of the chronicles of the period.

Mudjahid II Siradj al-Dawla. – 468-469 / 1075-1076
According to various chronicles ( Ibn Khaldun & Ibn al-Abbar) Siradj al-Dawla was one of the sons of Iqbal al-Dawla who, after the occupation of Denia by al-Muqtadir of Zaragoza in 468H, made himself independent in Segura. His reign would be short lived as he was poisoned at the instigation of al-Muqtadir in 469H.
The importance of this coin is that it ties the laqab Siradj al-Dawla with the ism Mudjahid something which is not established in the Arabic chronicles. On the other hand a Christian document of the period relating to an arrangement between the bishop of Barcelona and the kingdom of Denia cites as signer, in representation of Iqbal al-Dawla, his son by the name Mudjahid (see Maria Jesus Ribiira Mata, La Taifa de Denis, Alicante, 1985, pgs 103-104). This coin establishes the signer of the document of Barcelona as the same person as the brief ruler of Segura.
On the coin only the first three letters of the mint appear and there second seems to be a «k» instead of the more usual «q».
